China Mobile is Committed to Construct SDN Industry Chain

Yang Zhiqiang, vice president of China Mobile Research Institute, shared practices & applications of SDN/NFVat the Global SDNFV Tech Conference 2016 earlier this month.
 
She said SDN can raise efficiency of both business introduction and network operation, which means a lot to cost cut for operators. China Mobile has carried out practice & applications of SDN in following three aspects.
 
Next-Generation Data Center
 
China Mobile first deployed public cloud service in Guangzhou in 2015. The operator offered public cloud solutions based on SDN and self-developed some core SDN equipments including controller, and high-end virtual switches.
 
China Mobile has greatly promoted the interoperability between vendors in SDN industry through equipment docking with different vendors.
 
Corporate-Customer Leased Network
 
China Mobile has completed test on interoperability of seven vendors in the lab and launched the corporate customer leased-network based on SDN in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian and Beijing, which largely improves the business experience.
 
WAN
 
In order to increase network utilization, China Mobile has done optimization in WAN. China Mobile is the first to launch applications based on OpenDaylight which is researched and developed by operators. It has made efforts to optimize VoLTE, dedicated IoT and fixed access.
