2016-05-27 11:34:55

MIIT chief engineer Zhang Feng said recently that MIIT took several steps in promoting implementation of the network strategy and the "Internet +" plan and made achievements.

First, MIIT has carried out the "Broadband China" project, which inproved the network capability substantially.FTTH access subscribers exceeded 120 million by the end of February 2016, which is nearly 60% of the fixed broadband subscribers, while 4G network has covered main cities and towns nationwide, serving over 500 million 4G subscribers. The "three-network convergence" (three networks refer to telecom, television and Internet services) moves forward steadily, which is being popularized in China.

Second, MIIT has aggressively promoted the "improving the speed and cutting down the tariff" strategy and reduced entrepreneurial and innovation costs. The major telecom operators issued a statement that they would improve the speed while the tariff wouldn't increase and launched the "data traffic not cleared" strategy. The major operators have over-fulfilled 30% YoY decline in the average tariff of fixed broadband and mobile traffic in 2015.

Third, MIIT has implemented the "Internet +" plan to support entrepreneurship and innovation of small and micro businesses.
