2021-03-03 13:49:23

[Shanghai, China, March 3, 2021] At MWC Shanghai 2021, members of 5G deterministic networking alliance (5GDNA), including Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute, China Southern Power Grid, Gree Electric Zhuhai, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, and Huawei, set up a 5G deterministic networking (5GDN) joint innovation lab. The lab was established to consolidate deterministic network capabilities, aggregate edge applications, and speed up 5G-powered digitalization of industries.

5GDNA has attracted more than 100 members since its establishment and made remarkable achievements in promoting the industry consensus, showcasing industry applications, and building industry ecosystems in verticals such as the industrial Internet, energy, intelligent transportation, healthcare, multimedia, and coal mining. Its joint innovation lab provides an innovation platform that streamlines devices, networks, and applications to facilitate industry transformation, help build a base for 5G + industrial Internet innovation, and promote the construction of new infrastructure.

The 5GDN joint innovation lab relies on network and industry labs in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Zhuhai to explore network requirements and verify capabilities for E2E network, network-device, as well as network-application synergy. The lab follows the latest release of 3GPP specifications and harnesses key technologies, such as network slicing, MEC, 5G TSN, and 5G LAN, to build deterministic connections and enhance connectivity and computing capabilities. Moreover, with its excellent expert team and profound testing experience, the lab can provide feasible guidance for a wide range of industries and enterprises.

Leveraging "connectivity + computing" and the E2E integration of the device, edge, pipe, and cloud, the lab helps aggregate edge applications, build a base for application incubation, develop industry transformation showcases, and promote business implementation. In addition, it works with the EdgeGallery open-source community to develop MEC industry applications.

With the support of the lab, an industry-level evaluation system will be built to evaluate and certify deterministic network capability baselines and innovation applications. The lab also works with device, application, and major industry labs to build an industry innovation platform and participate in the new infrastructure construction and local industry policy-backed projects.

Although the journey ahead is long and hard, we will face and overcome all challenges. Leo Ma, President of Huawei Cloud Core Network Marketing Dept., said, "The 5GDN joint innovation lab will drive the iteration, optimization, and implementation of 5GDN. We welcome more leading enterprises to join the 5GDNA and 5GDN joint innovation lab to strengthen communication and collaboration and build a mutually beneficial B2B ecosystem."
