China Mobile, Nokia demo 5G in emergency care

2017-07-11 17:00:05

China Mobile and Nokia have teamed up to demonstrate how 5G will be able to rive improvements in emergency patient care at Mobile World Congress Shanghai.

The companies are demonstrating how 5G can enable support for new services including telehealth at China Mobile's booth at the event.

The demonstration uses technology based on Nokia's 5G FIRST solution to replicate communications between ambulance and hospital staff while an emergency patient is being transported.

Nokia said 5G 's discrete network slicing capabilities can enable the reliable transmission of high-bandwidth images such as patient X-rays and video in real-time, to the hospital.

This will allow doctors to begin diagnosis of patients' condition in transit and make initial preparations for their arrival.

“We are very pleased to cooperate with China Mobile and use 5G to demonstrate a highly efficient and effective Telehealth solution,” commented Yu Xiohan, head of Nokia Netowork China's customer business team for China Mobile.

“As a leading developer of 5G, we continue to engage with customers on research and development, best practices and the uses of 5G to prepare for future introduction of the technology. We'll continue to fulfill our mission by making people's life easier as we create the technologies that connect the world."
