Ericsson is to modernize XL Axiata’s transport network in Indonesia with 5G-ready routers over the next three years, beginning in the second quarter of 2019.

The new IP Mobile Backhaul transformation project will see the implementation of Router 6000 hardware, software and customer support – from Ericsson’s Mobile Transport portfolio - to prepare XL Axiata’s network for future 5G requirements and support significant increases in the number of connected devices and network data traffic.

Yessie D. Yosetya, Director, XL Axiata, says: “We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with Ericsson with state-of-the-art transmission equipment. We believe this will increase our network capacity performance and also beneficial for our customers to deliver a good user experience. This is one of our initiatives into the 5G era.”

Jerry Soper, Head of Ericsson Indonesia, says: “We are committed to support XL Axiata by building the highest quality network that provides an outstanding user experience. The transport network needs to be 5G ready for the smooth evolution of the network to 5G and we are delighted to partner XL Axiata for the same.”
