Accelerating 5G Arrival, FiberHome Successfully Completes FlexE Interoperability Demo with OIF

2018-04-09 20:12:49

During the 43rd Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC), FiberHome teamed up with the Optical Interworking Forum (OIF) to successfully demonstrate the physical layer connectivity of intelligent optical networks with multiple vendors. The FlexE interface has achieved significant progress of interconnection and interoperability, and has promoted the development of key technologies for 5G bearers, winning widespread praise from the industry.

The joint demonstration successfully verified the maturity of the FlexE interface and multi-vendor interoperability. At the same time, it demonstrated the technical excellence of the indicators and performance, to meet the different types of 5G different bearing requirements and strict performance challenges.

As one of the key technologies of the 5G bearing solution, network slicing provides an application foundation for implementing logical isolation and ultra-low latency forwarding for different services. As the core technology of Ethernet slicing, FlexE adds the Shim layer time slot switching in the original Ethernet frame structure, which greatly reduces the node process delay of the bearer network and satisfies the uRLLC service bearing requirements; meanwhile, FlexE technology can implement port bonding. The function bundles multiple low-rate ports into one high-speed port to implement the 5G large-bandwidth bearing requirement.

The demonstration was based on FiberHome's FitHaul bearer solution for 5G. The exhibited CiTRANS650 product successfully demonstrated FlexE network slicing using 100G ports, multi-service isolation, hybrid networking, and interworking with major vendors in the industry. It fully illustrates the core values of “ubiquitous, ultra-BB, ultra-simplified and on-demand” proposed by FitHaul solution, which is designed to create a multi-service bearer platform for operators that integrates fronthaul, midhual, and backhaul to meet 5G demands of bandwidth, low latency, high accuracy , network slicing, flexible forwarding and centralized management and control.

2018 is the first year of 5G bearing. FiberHome will continue to strengthen cooperation with the industry to gather the power of the industry and push forward the further improvement and maturity of the 5G bearing technology system to help operators accelerate the construction of 5G commercial networks.
