On December 25th, Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (hereinafter referred to as YOFC, stock code: 6869.HK) held a "YOFC Book Corner" donation ceremony in the Doctors’ Home of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Dai Zejian, (Deputy Chief of Graduate Students Affairs Division, HUST), Zhang Faxiong (Director of Ideological Education Office of Graduate Students Affairs Division, HUST), Zhou Yijun (HR Director of YOFC) and Zhou Qinmin (Manager of Strategy and Marketing Department of YOFC) took part in the ceremony. The donation ceremony was held in the form of a symposium and attracted more than 50 doctoral candidates.
Zhou Qinmin, Manager of Strategy and Marketing Department of YOFC, chaired the event and delivered a brief introduction: YOFC and HUST have been maintaining our exchange and cooperation in various aspects for many years. With regards to public benefit, the "YOFC Book Corner" project has been launched this year in addition to the previous "YOFC Scholarship" project, in the hope of providing more spiritual nourishment for both teachers and students. YOFC will continue to fulfill its social responsibility and strive to become an excellent corporate citizen.
Zhou Yijun, HR Director of YOFC, extended gratitude to the teachers, students and YOFC staff who were present at the symposium. Zhou took the opportunity to exchange ideas with participating students on the following areas: YOFC’s development course, its position in the industry, technological R&D competencies, honors garnered in recent years, fulfillment of social responsibility and future development vision. Zhou Yijun also invited them to join YOFC and join YOFC’s specific projects so as to achieve the common development of individuals and the enterprise.
Dai Zejian, Deputy Chief of Graduate Students Affairs Division of HUST, spoke on behalf of the university. He stated that YOFC’s donation of books to HUST, which is an injection of powerful knowledge, will help students expand their cultural horizons and benefit HUST in the new era. Dai pointed out the plan and requirements of current graduate students’ cultivation based on the report of the 19thNational Congress of CPC. Furthermore, he hoped that YOFC can provide more opportunities for university students to get involved in the production frontline for learning and experience accumulation and that both sides would continue to deepen cooperation.
At the end of the ceremony, Dai Zejian and Zhou Yijun jointly unveiled the "YOFC Book Corner", marking the successful completion of the books donation project.
"YOFC Book Corner" is a public benefit project recently launched by YOFC in 2017 towards Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications. It aims to support the educational cause through donating books and it is a way for YOFC to fulfill its social responsibility. Adhering to the public-benefit philosophy of “Assume Joint Accountability and Seek Stakeholder Benefits”, YOFC has been carrying out public-benefit activities in education, environmental protection, openness and charity. And the "YOFC Book Corner" is a specific practice of YOFC’s public-benefit activities in education.
Support for education is an important part of YOFC’s public-benefit activities. As early as in 2001, YOFC set up the "YOFC Scholarship" in 10 universities including HUST. For many years, YOFC has been continuously facilitating the development of colleges and universities with a strong sense of social responsibility.
