Broadband Development Alliance released the broadband speed report in 1Q16 a few days ago. The report shows that the download speed of China's fixed broadband in Q1 reached 9.46 Mbps, an increase of 13.4% compared with 4Q15.

The coincidence degree of broadband access was still above 110%.

The above-the-fold time decreased by 25.6% compared with 4Q15 while the video download speed raised by 9.2%.

Averages of available download speed in China in 1Q15 to 1Q16 (Unit: Mbps)

Broadband download speed in central cities of China will achieve 10 Mbps

From a regional perspective, the averages of available download speed in East China were obviously higher than those in western and central regions of China which were below the national average level.

Judging from the local circumstances, the averages available download speed in 14 provinces achieved or even exceeded the national average speed including Shanghai and Beijing which leaded in the average speed.

The average speeds in 7 provinces were over 10 Mbps. Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu were among the top three in the provincial broadband speed rankings. The average download speeds in 11 cities exceeded 10 Mbps, accounting for one third of the cities ranked, which means the new era of 10 Mbps broadband download speed is to come.
