At present, 95% of the international communications rely on submarine optical cables. As a big marine country, China has 18 thousand km of coastline, more than 6000 islands scattered along the coastal edge, which made submarine cable become of an important transmission means of power and communication between the islands and coastal city. In addition to that, as the reconstruction on the national offshore oil platform, offshore wind power, the rivers and lakes and reservoir dam in recent years, and the continuous growth of demand for submarine fiber cable in international market like Southeast Asia, Chinese submarine cable market is in a period of rapid development.
Recently, the 2017 Changshu City Vocational Skills Competition sponsored by the Changshu Social Security Bureau, Changshu Talent Work Office, the Changshu General Union of Worker, Changshu Women's Federation and the Changshu Communist Youth League Committee has swept through City of Yu. It is worthwhile for attentions for that this competition has first listed submarine cable manufacturing skill into the competition items, and designated Jiangsu Hengtong Group, Jiangsu Hengtong Marine Optical Network System Corporation Ltd,. to be the first organizer, furtherly demonstrating the authority of Hengtong marine technologies.
Changshu is located in the south bank of the Yangtze River, and the Yangtze River Delta of southeast in Jiangsu Province, with east connection to Taicang, and 100 kilometers away from Shanghai. Northly facing the Yangtze River golden waterway, the Changshu port has line of 37.5 kilometers along the Yangtze River, Which is approved by the State Council as the national first class open port. It has already built with 21 berths including Hengtong Wharf, and has 11 berths of more than 10 thousand tons.
Over the last years, Changshu Professional Skills Competition mainly concentrated on projects of mechanical and electrical maintenance, automobile maintenance and electrician etc. In recent years, based on Changshu's natural geographical advantages, communication submarine cable enterprises started moving into the port of Changshu, boosting economic development of Changshu. Submarine skills have become of the high-end technology that the government can not ignore. Training a group of professional marine cable manufacturing talents has become of one of the important projects of government's technology talents cultivation. As the first submarine optic cable manufacturing enterprise, Hengtong Marine has built a beautiful scenery of its submarine cable research, development and production base on Changshu’s bank of the Yangtze River, providing the favorable conditions for this competition richly endowed by nature.
As one of the earlier layout private enterprises for "Chinese Belt and Road” policy, Hengtong aimed at submarine optic cable technology as early as more than 10 years ago, who has now won the highest marine cable manufacturing technology and invention patents. Hengtong achieved 13 UQJ certifications of international submarine optic cable products, becoming of the enterprise who obtained most alliance combination certificates, and most certification cable types. It broke technical barriers the big length (length of 35kM and above with no joint) , the large section (up to 3500mm²) and high voltage level (500KV) in submarine cable production. Hengtong overcame the ultra high pressure 500kV cross-linked marine cable material’s cleanliness control, the ultra thick insulation extrusion technology as well as many other technical problems of the world, who has created many world first in the field of submarine cable industry.
