On the morning of July 25, the 2nd session of the 2nd academic committee of the State Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre and Cable Manufacture Technology (here in after referred to as “SKLOFCMT”), Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (YOFC, stock code:HK6869) was ceremoniously held in Wuhan. The session was hosted by Academician Wu Hequan, director of the academic committee of the laboratory and Dr. XiongLiangming, executive deputy director of the laboratory. Academic committee experts including Prof. Ren Xiaomin, Mr. R. Matai, Prof. Perry Shum, Prof. LiuDeming, Prof. Rao Yunjiang, Wang Ruichun, General Manager of YOFC R&D Center, Dr. Zhang Shuqiang and Dr. Xiong Zhuang and leaders of the laboratory administrative department including Du Yun, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province, Wang Dongmei, Director of the Basic Research Division of Science and Technology Department and Qiao Chuhua, Deputy Director of the Basic Research Division attended the session.
At the session, Deputy Director Du delivered an important speech on behalf of the laboratory administrative department, with a focus on the development and basic research of Hubei State Key Laboratory.While expressing gratitude for the laboratory academic committee experts’ contribution to the scientific and technological development in Hubei Province, Director Du also noted that Hubei Science and Technology Department, as the regional administrative department, will continue to support the R&D and technical talent training in YOFC, buttress the talent and technology of SKLOFCMT and make it become a main innovator. He hoped that YOFC can capitalize on the platform of State Key Laboratory so as to transform and transfer thescientific and technological achievement and play the demonstration role in platform application.
Zhou Lijing, Vice President and Secretary of the Board in YOFC, attended the session and delivered a significant speech on behalf of the supporting unit. President Zhou expressed sincere gratitude to all the present laboratory administrative leaders and academic committee experts for their instructions, long-term care, support and contribution and also noted that YOFC, as the supporting unit, will continue to provide constant and strong support to the operation and development of SKLOFCMT.
Dr. Luo Jie, laboratory director and YOFC Technical Director made a laboratory work report from 2016 to 2017, reviewing the significant issues of the laboratory in the last year and the last expert guidance and laboratory response with a focus on the significant research progress and overseas communication and cooperation of “four research laboratories and one center” in the last year and the development plan of the laboratory at the next stage and academic committee experts affirmed the laboratory’s performance in scientific research achievement, achievement transformation and overseas communication and cooperation in the last year while debriefing very carefully. After that, experts had a broad and deep discussion of major topics including the way to develop and lead the optical fibre and cable technology in the future, the basic research direction of optical fibre and cable application and the way to develop the level of laboratory in response to the national reform of science and technology system and provided positive and valuable professional advice and academic guidance.
At the end of the session, Academician Wu Hequanspoke highly of the academic committee session while making an overall summary of it; providing constructive guidance and academic instruction to the future laboratory development and offering important guidance and valuable advice for the implementation and development of the for thcoming laboratory work.
