On April 13th, under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People’s Government of JiangxiProvince, the 14th China Information Harbour Forum, which was undertaken by the Posts&Telecom News Office, Jiangxi Communication Administration, and Yingtan Municipal Government, was held in Yingtan of Jiangxi Province. The forum was themed on“Building an Internet Power Together”, during which the attendees discussed in-depth the missions and responsibilities faced by the information and communication industry with the goal of building an Internet power, and the new progress, new opportunities, new challenges and new ways of thinking for the development of the industry. Mr. Wu Jichuan, former Minister of Information Industry, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech. Mr. Zhang Shu, head of the Posts&Telecom News Office, Mr. Huang Jianxin, head of Jiangxi Communication Administration, and Mr. Cao Shumin, Secretary of CPC Yingtan Committee and Mayor of Yingtan, attended and addressed the forum. Mr. Li Yihuang, Vice Governor of Jiangxi Province, and Mr. Liu Lihua, Vice Minister ofIndustry and Information Technology, made speeches. Mr. Chen Zhongyue, Vice General Manager of China Telecom, Mr. Li Zhengmao, Vice President of CMCC, Mr. Han Zhigang, Vice President of China Unicom, Mr. Dong Xiaozhuang, Vice General Manager of China Tower, and so on delivered keynote speeches at the forum. Mr. Wu Suoning, Editor in Chief of the Posts&Telecom News Office, hosted the opening ceremony of the forum, and Mr. Wang Baoping, General Editor of the Posts&Telecom News Office, hosted the summit in the morning.
At the opening ceremony of the forum,Mr. Wu Jichuandelivered a keynote report with the title of“Find the Accurate Historic Position of the Industry and Support the Development of an Internet Power”. As he pointed out, with the Internet entering the real economy, especially the production area, it would advance the development of a series of technologies, including sensor technology, networking technology, data processing technology, identifying technology, mobile 5G technology, etc. It indicated that the Internet was going to enter the 3.0 phase, namely the phase of perceivingtechnology. Moreover, with the development in AI technology and research ofbioinformatics, a new round of“cognitive Internet” would emerge after“perceiving Internet”. He emphasized, we must embrace the future with a scientific attitude and the spirit of innovation; following demands from the market, we should strive to create Internet environment support of mutual benefits and integrity, train a group of talents in line with an Internet power, and stand up to newopportunities and challenges.
Mr. Zhou Qinmin, Manager of Strategy & Market Department ofYangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (stock code: 6869.HK, hereinafter referred to as “YOFC”), attended this forum on invitation. Mr. Zhang Fanghai, a senior expert from YOFC, delivered a speech with the title of“New Fibre Supports the Development of‘Next Generation’ Network” at the summit of“Construction of Internet Infrastructure” of this forum, in which he reviewed YOFC’soutstanding contribution to the Chinese fibre and cable industry and the communication cause of China, and introduced YOFC’s latest R&D progress and application achievements in such new fibre segments as ultra-low-attenuation G.654 fibre,broadband OM5multimode fibre, and multicore fibre. YOFC is one of the few companies in the world which acquire the ultra-low-attenuation fibretechnology and thebroadband multimode fibre technology. Leaders from the Internet Development Department of China Telecom, Plan & Construction Department of CMCC, and InternetConstructionDevelopment of China Unicom delivered keynote speeches at the summit respectively, speakinghighly of YOFC’sultra-low-attenuation G.654 fibre’s special contribution to and significance for the development of national fibre industry. In the future, YOFC will make use of opportunities in the market, push the development and upgrade of our country’s information infrastructure, and support the rapid development of Internet applications, thus help build an“Internet power”.
This is the 14th edition of China Information Harbour Forum. With the acceleration of China’s Internet andinformatization development, and the integration oftelecommunication industry into the development of economy and society, it is a gathering for senior executives of the information andcommunication industry and elites from the IT industry to discuss the development plan and future orientation of the information andcommunication industry of China with government leaders and experts in related social sectors. It is regarded as the“Fortune Forum” in the communication and information industry of China.
