On the morning of October 13, the local time, “China-South Africa High-tech Exhibition & Exchange”, undertaken by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology of South Africa and sponsored by Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province, Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province, Science and Technology Department of Anhui Province and Science and Technology Department of Guangxi, was opened in the largest city in South Africa, Johannesburg.
“China-South Africa High-tech Exhibition & Exchange” is a large science and technology fair co-undertaken by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology of South Africa in order to strengthen their high-tech exchange and cooperation, build a platform for their enterprises and science and technology institutions to make connection and communication, provide an opportunity of face-to-face communication and show, improve their research and industry level in high-tech field and drive their cooperative development in science innovation.
This activity consisted of show of science and technology projects, one-to-one cooperation and discussion, special topic discussion and other contents and involved life science, new energy, environmental protection, electronic information, advanced equipment manufacturing, traditional Chinese medicine and other fields. Enterprises invited to the activity included: COMAC, CASC, Huawei, SNPTC, HIKVISION, SINSUN, etc. and Yangtze Optical Fiber and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (stock code: 6869.HK, hereinafter referred to as “YOFC”) was the only enterprise invited to attend the activity in the industry.
At the opening ceremony, Chinese Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Hou Jianguo, South Africa General Director of the Ministry of Science and Technology of South Africa, PhilMjrawa, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Tian Xuejun respectively delivered an important speech on behalf of the two governments and non-governmental organizations in South Africa, expressing their willingness and broad prospect to make communication and cooperation in high-tech fields.
During the exhibition, the above important leaders and the leaders of province departments came to YOFC booth. While introducing main profile of the company, YOFC also reported to the leaders its progress in the construction of optical fiber factory in South Africa. Ambassador Tian mentioned with great interest the optical fiber factory invested by YOFC in South Africa and specifically talked about by President Xi when he met President Zuma in South Africaand expressed his full support for YOFC’s work in South Africa.
