High voltage and extra high voltage cable solutions to be supplied for the upgrade and development of the french grid

Prysmian has been awarded significant batches of a three-year agreement for the supply of High Voltage and Extra High Voltage underground cables from RTE, the Transmission System Operator in France and a key player within Europe’s power system, with the most extended High and Ultra High Voltage transmission infrastructure. The award confirms Prysmian’s leadership position in the segment and underlines the long-term partnership between RTE and Prysmian.

Xavier Piechaczyk, President of the Board at RTE, said: “The electrification, decarbonisation and reindustrialisation of France are synonymous with major investments in the electricity transmission network over the coming years. This new partnership with major cable makers not only allows us to secure the equipment needed to support the energy transition, but also shows the impact that investing on moving away from fossil energies can have on the French and European manufacturing industry, driving economic growth and employment.”

The contract is an extension of the existing framework, which was due to expire in 2025, and covers a duration of three years - until 2028 - with a mix of High and Extra High Voltage underground cables, including also accessories and installation, that will be manufactured in Prysmian’s plants in France (Gron and Montereau), Italy (Pignataro) and the Netherlands (Delft).
