The National Science and Technology Award Conference 2018 was grandly held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on January 8. The YOFC Optical Fibre and Cable Technology Innovation Project declared by Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (hereinafter referred to as YOFC, Stock Code: 601869.SH 06869.HK) has won the second prize of 2018 National Scientific and Technological Progress Award for "Enterprise Technology Innovation Projects", making YOFC become the only enterprise in the optical fibre and cable industry that won the prize this time. Zhuang Dan, Executive Director and President of YOFC, attended the Conference and received the award.
After winning of the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2005 and 2017, it is the third time for YOFC to win this prize, becoming the only enterprise in the optical fibre and cable industry that has won the prize for three times. It fully reflects YOFC's strong strength in technology innovation. As the leading enterprise in the optical fibre and cable industry, YOFC has been highly recognized the state for its accumulated technology innovation capability in the field of optical fibre communication and for its contribution to the development of the industry.
Zhuang Dan said that the secret for YOFC to realize its dream ahead of schedule and become "World No.1" is unremitting innovation. With the strategic goal of "World No.1 and Industry leader" and the main contents of "breaking through and mastering the key technologies of optical fibre perform, optical fibre cables, high-speed fibre drawing and key equipment, optical fibre application and inspection", the award-winning project builds an enterprise independent innovation engineering system and is the innovative practice and achievement that drive YOFC to realize the transformation from a technology transferee enterprise to a technological independent innovative enterprise, and from a single-business and regional company to a diversified-business and international company.
The "YOFC Optical Fibre and Cable Technology Innovation Project" was launched in 2003. After 15 years of implementation and application, YOFC has built the only State Key Laboratory in the optical fibre and cable industry, national enterprise technical center and other research and development platforms. It has also established an open and integrated technology innovation system and a four-in-one collaborative innovation mechanism, formed a dynamic and creative talent team and created a multi-level and high-level research and development platform system. Besides, YOFC has formulated a flexible and efficient innovation management mechanism, comprehensively promoting its independent innovation management and international competitiveness, and promoting the overall technological progress of the industry.
Since 2003, YOFC has undertaken more than 300 government-invested and self-established scientific research projects including "973", "863" and "Industry Strengthening Foundation", and has broken through a series of core key technologies and common technical problems. A number of scientific research achievements have been successively appraised by Ministry of Science and Technology of the People´s Republic of China, Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province, Chinese Institute of Electronics and other domestic authoritative organizations, and a number of technological achievements have been appraised as world-leading. YOFC has presided over or participated in drafting 116 standards. Up to now, YOFC is the holder of more than 700 intellectual property rights (including those authorized and applied for) in China and other countries. Compared with its Chinese competitors, YOFC ranks top by number of patents applied for and authorized abroad, as well as the number of patents applied for and authorized in the optical fibre industry.
Over the past 30 years, YOFC has insisted on innovation as one of the guiding strategies for enterprise development, completing the technological development of "introduction, digestion, absorption and innovation" and realizing the perfect transformation from the "follower" to the "leader".
