2019-03-07 09:23:24

The $407 million Darlington Point Solar Farm development near Griffiths in New South Wales has marked new milestones with project developer Edify Energy together with its partner Octopus Investments reaching financial close.

Once the 333MW DC solar farm is up and operational, it is expected to generate up to 685,000MWh of renewable energy, which is enough to power up to 115,000 homes annually. Aside from the solar farm, this development will also include a 100MW battery storage system.

A turnkey Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract has been awarded to a consortium of Signal Energy and Canadian Solar, and the latter will also provide Operations and Maintenance Services under Edify Energy’s overall Asset Management.

Construction of the project is anticipated to create up to 400 jobs during its peak.

The project has also marked other milestones, including the signing of a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Delta Electricity for about 55 per cent of the output from the solar farm; as well as the awarding of an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts to Signal Energy Australia and Canadian Solar.
