Glad Tidings | YOFC Wins 4 Prizes at ODC' 2018

On November 20, the 2018 China Optical Communication Development and Competitiveness Forum (ODC' 2018) & Awards Ceremony of the Top 10 Most Competitive Enterprises in China's Optical Communication Industry was held in Beijing. The event was co-hosted by the Optical Communication Commission of China Institute of Communications (CIC) and Asia-Pacific Optical Communications Commission. Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (YOFC; stock code: 601869.SH, 06869.HK) won four honors by virtue of its powerful strength, namely the first prize of the "Top 10 Most Competitive Enterprises in China's Optical Communication Industry", the second prize of the "Top 10 Most Competitive Enterprises in Global Optical Communication Industry", the fifth prize of the "Top 10 Most Competitive Brands in China's Optical Communication Industry", and the prize of "2018 Best Enterprise with 'Craftsmanship Spirit' in China's Optical Communication Industry". Zhou Jinkai, Manager of YOFC Strategy and Marketing Department, attended the forum and received the awards on behalf of the company.

With the theme of "Internet of Everything: 5G Shares a Future of Intelligence", this year's ODC forum was presided over by Song Zhituo, Chairman of CIC Communication Line Committee. Song Tong, Deputy Secretary General of CIC, delivered a welcome speech. Wei Leping, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Zhang Chengliang, Vice President of China Telecom Beijing Research Institute, and Ao Li, Director of the Research Institute of Technology and Standard of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, gave keynote speeches at the opening ceremony respectively.

 

During the awarding ceremony, Mao Qian, member of the Standing Committee of Communication Science and Technology Committee of MIIT, Chairman of Asia-Pacific Optical Communications Commission and Chief Editor of Network Telecom, summarized the selection of the top 10 most competitive enterprises in global and China's optical communication industry. He said that in the past year, factors such as densified 4G and forthcoming commercialized 5G mobile network, data centers, and industrial interconnection and digitization greatly promoted the development of global optical communication market this year. Definitely, 5G has emerged as the most promising market driver and its large-scale commercial deployment is near at hand, ensuring a stable growth of China's optical communication industry.

 

At the session of thematic forum, Zhou Jinkai delivered a keynote speech entitled "Focus on Innovation-driven and Quality-oriented Development, Work Together to Build an Interconnected and Smart Future". According to Zhou, the global optic fibre and cable industry will usher in new development opportunities. In such a context, YOFC will take innovation as the core strategy of enterprise development as it has always been, seek technology and product innovation, and introduce high-performance development patterns for business diversification. Through such efforts, it attempts to strengthen and expand business and continuously accelerate sustainable growth. He also stressed that innovation and quality are inevitable in the development of China's optic fibre and cable industry. YOFC is willing to join hands with all industrial players to create a quality-based interconnected and smart future by leveraging the leading role of innovation.

 

Since 2006, ODC forum has been successfully held for 12 years, attracting wide praise from industrial players. This year, it serves as a booster for discussion and exchanges among participants and for interaction between each links of the optical communication industry. It helps enterprises deepen their understanding of the status and trends of international and domestic optical communication industry. As such, these enterprises can cope with challenges and seize opportunities and put efforts to foster strengths and circumvent weaknesses. Industrial chain cooperation and exchanges will therefore be enhanced, helping China's optical communication industry embark on a harmonious, healthy, orderly and sustainable way of development.
