Mobile World Congress Shanghai featured exciting new additions for 2017; more days, more exhibitions, more innovation, and more attendees! MWC Shanghai welcomed nearly 67,500 of the mobile world’s brightest minds from 104 countries and territories. Attendees explored ‘The Human Element’, addressing the impact of mobile on our daily lives and experiencing the products and services shaping the future of the connected world.

The four-day event attracted executives from the industry’s largest and most influential operators, device makers, equipment providers, software and internet companies, as well as tech-savvy consumers.

Spanning seven halls at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre (SNIEC), MWC Shanghai hosted nearly 600 exhibitors; showcasing companies from across the mobile ecosystem, as well as adjacent industry sectors and an additional 15 pavilions from specific countries and regions.

The MWC Shanghai conference programme included over 200 industry leaders presenting various keynotes and a focused series of summits on topics such as 5G, automotive, cyber security, Internet of Things (IoT), device innovation, mobile media and content, and virtual reality/augmented reality, and more.

Visitors to the GSMA Innovation City saw first-hand how mobile-connected products and services are improving the lives of citizens, enterprises and governments in Asia and around the world through immersive, cutting-edge demonstrations of mobile advances for retail, transport, automotive and more.

The ‘Experience Halls’ focused on four main themes: sports, lifestyle, entertainment and learning with features including the Device City, the Health & Fitness Zone, the Mixed Reality Home, the Sports Tech Zone, VR & AR Zone, and much more. Attendees watched as the world’s leading drone pilots competed in the Drone Racing Competition, and the top professional all-female leagues battled in the Mobile Gaming Tournament. For the first time in 2017, the Exhibition Halls were open on Saturday, allowing even more people to experience these exciting exhibits and demonstrations.

4 Years From Now (4YFN) returned for its second year in Shanghai, with 132 startups representing 16 countries and featured unique exhibitions, pitch sessions, presentations from entrepreneurs and industry experts, and the 4YFN Awards.

The Youth Mobile Festival (YoMo) was also back this year, with more than 14,000 visitors experiencing interactive exhibits, workshops and hands-on activities designed to foster future innovators.
