Over 500 decision makers from the global subsea communications industry to gather in Singapore this month for Submarine Networks World 2017
 
SINGAPORE:Submarine Networks World – the world’s leading annual submarine communications conference – returns for its 20theditionthis month from 25 – 27 September at Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore.  
 
With over 500 industry leaders from across 220 organisationsaround the world expected to attend, the conference is a key calendar event for executives involved in the building, investing and buying of core Internet backbone infrastructure.
 
As the world’s population becomes increasingly connected, demand for faster Internet speeds, greater capacity and more flexible networks continues to escalate.With global Internet traffic predicted to reach 30GB per capita by 2021 , demand for new subsea cable projects is expected to continue experiencing growth. Recent years have also seen cloud giants Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon getting directly involved as project investors and owners to meet their global bandwidth needs, further fueling the industry’s growth. 
 
Now in its 20th year, Submarine Networks World serves as an annual platform for the industry to come together and learn about the latest cable projects and technologies, create new business partnerships and network.
 
The theme for 2017’s conference “Breaking Boundaries” has been set with the intention to challenge tradition, question what’s possible and prepare for the future, where a resilient subsea network and diverse route options will form the cornerstone of tomorrow’s global connected community. Key topics covered in the conference include System Cost Engineering, Regulation and Policy, Mitigating Security Risks, New Capacity Drivers, Financing, Open Networks, Marine Operations and Maintenance and more. 
 
With this year’s event set to be the largest edition yet, confirmed companies in attendance include senior representatives from Alcatel Submarine Networks, Amazon, Facebook, Ciena, Equinix, Huawei Marine, Microsoft, NEC Corporation, China Telecom Global, Southern Cross Cable Network, Tata Communications, PCCW Global, TE SubCom, Telstra, Saudi Telecom Company, TELIN, Singtel and many more.
 
Apart from the two-day plenary conference taking place 26-27 September, there will also be pre-conference activities held on 25th September, which include two half-day masterclasses and a visit to Singapore's ArtScience Museum for the Human + The Future of Our Species. To commemorate the event’s 20th anniversary, a pre-event welcome cocktail reception will also be held at Altimate by 1-Altitude, the world’s highest alfresco bar with a 360˚ panoramic view of Singapore’s skyline
