World’s first Optical Fibre & Cable Conference jointly organized by CRU and YOFC Optical Fibre & Cable Holdings Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as YOFC) was solemnly held in Optics Valley of China on November 3, 2016. It was the first time for CRU to genuinely introduce this global conference to China after the successful APAC Optical Fibre & Cable Conference in 2015. It attracted over 600 representatives from governmental departments, telecommunication operation, equipment services, industry and research institutions as well as leading experts in the world. It attracted the leading enterprises in the industry including YOFC, FiberHome, Futong, Hengtong and Zhongtian and powerful enterprises in the industry of US, Japan, Europe and India including Cornin, Prysmian, Shinetsu and Stld. Meanwhile, it was attached great importance by investment organizations. The representatives of financial institutions including CICC, CITIC Securities and Hony Capital attended the conference.
This conference was attached great importance by different levels of governments including Hubei Province, Wuhan City and East Lake High-Tech Zone. Wan Yong, Deputy Secretary of Wuhan Municipal Committee and Mayor of Wuhan attended this conference and delivered important speech. He said that as a place boasting the largest optoelectronic information industry base in China – Optics Valley of China, optoelectronic information industry is an important strategic industry in Hubei. Currently, Optics Valley of China has become an iconic brand with international competitiveness in the field of optoelectronic information. It produced the first optical fibre in China, built the largest optical fibre & cable R&D production base in China and nurtured those world-famous optical fibre & cable enterprises such as YOFC and FiberHome with the largest scale of production and sales of optical fibre & cable in the world. He believed that the conference would have profound effect on the whole industry.
The present guests are global experts and elites. Wu Hequan, Chinese Academy of Engineering academician pointed out in the speech that broadband makes wide space for developing and applying optical communications technology. Optical fibre & cable are the cornerstones of broadband. Without the wide application of optical fibre transmission system, there is no broadband, which is indispensable to informatization without which modernization cannot achieve. For the optical fibre & cable industry in China, the broadband in China strategy has brought us both opportunities and challenges. Different branches of the industry chain should strengthen the innovation.
