2018-09-18 15:37:45

India's Adpay Mobile Payment, under the brand name Aerovoyce, has launched India's first MVNO service using state-owned operator BSNL's network.

Aerovoyce will target its services at rural areas as well as tier II and III cities, the Economic Times reported.

According to the report, the company is offering plans starting at just 29 rupees ($0.42) per month that include unlimited Aerovoyce to Aerovoyce calls. The high-end 79 rupee per month plan also includes a daily data allocation of 2GB.

The company also plans to respond to the price war gripping the market with a family plan allowing services for all family members for just 79 rupees, bundled with IPTV and full cash back on the purchase of a device.

Meanwhile fellow BSNL MVNO licensee Plintron is using the operator's network to provide an IoT focused service branded eSIM4Things.

For BSNL, the MVNE business is a key part of the company's strategy to weather the market disruption caused by the price war and diversify into new areas.

The company hopes to generate nearly 10 billion rupees annually from the MVNO segment, which has been reinvigorated due to recent regulatory changes by the Department of Telecom introducing more favorable license conditions, the report adds.
