Huawei to build Andorra Telecom's FTTH Network

2017-03-14 10:45:45

Huawei has been awarded the contract to build a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network for Andorra Telecom, allowing the operator to meet the demands of its customers by offering broadband at speeds of up to 300 Mbps during the initial phase. In a statement, Huawei added that the project to update the current EPON fibre network to the new GPON standard will ultimately provide access to speeds of up to 10 Gbps when the rollout is completed in January 2018, ensuring that the system meets bandwidth requirements over the next 10 to 15 years.

Under the terms of the agreement, Andorra Telecom’s end customers will also receive a Huawei-branded ONT unit and a latest-generation Wi-Fi router to optimise broadband, HD voice, video and 4K IPTV performance.
