ZTE, BBV and Primevest Capital Partners Start the Last Construction Phase for a Fiber-optic Network in Southern Germany

2019-03-28 13:43:21

ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that in collaboration with BBV and Primevest Capital Partners, ZTE has started the third and final construction phase for a fiber-optic network in Southern Germany, at Fiberdays19 of the BREKO  on March 27 and 28, 2019 in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The project partners, who are committed to building future-proof fiber-optic networks in rural areas, expect the network to be completed by the end of 2019.

In this project, ZTE is not only the technology supplier in this cooperation, but also the general contractor. ZTE takes over the financing of the network deployment, takes care of the turnkey construction and sells it on completion to Primevest Capital Partners, which then leases the finished network to the operator BBV.

In the summer of 2017, the technology supplier ZTE, the asset manager Primevest Capital Partners and the nationwide network operator BBV Germany, entered into a partnership to close the digital supply gap in rural areas by building a powerful gigabit network in the city of Bretten in the district of Karlsruhe.

Five neighborhoods were connected via fiber in the first two phases of the project after only one year of construction. In addition to private households, enterprises, schools and public institutions also get the fast access to the information highway since late summer 2018.

By means of the third and final stage of expansion, the network now reaches the core city of Bretten. By the end of 2019, more than 700 kilometers of fiber-optic cable will be laid and the fiber-optic connection will be accessible to more than 12,000 households.

"ZTE is not only an innovation leader in the field of broadband technologies, but also demonstrates its capability of developing new cooperation models with this project," explained Jie Sun, Managing Director of ZTE Deutschland GmbH. "Moreover, this business model is an innovation for the German market, which has the potential to be a role model."

"As a regional network operator and marketer, we are particularly interested in the close cooperation with the city, an open communication with all involved and the discrete expansion," explained Manfred Maschek, Managing Director of BBV. “We provide our customers in Germany with symmetrical services ranging from 100 Mbit/s to 1 Gbit/s.”

"The cooperation with ZTE and BBV has met our highest quality standards,” said Dr. Peter Selgert, communications infrastructure consultant at Primevest Capital Partners. “Moreover, it turns out that our cooperation for the privately financed development of a fiber-optic network is a successful model."

ZTE has been committed to building the gigabit society in Germany and supporting regional and local network operators in the development and expansion of fiber-optic networks. Please visit us at the BREKO FIBREDAYS19 on March 27 and 28, 2019 at the Rhein Main Congress Center Wiesbaden on stand no. 107.
