Strong Presentation at ITU Bodes Well for Telecom Investment in Nigeria

Nigeria's public and private sectors have pitched to foreign investors at the 2016 International Telecommunication Union conference, Telecoms World in Bangkok, Thailand

Nigerian officials and businesses have presented to foreign investors at the 2016 International Telecommunication Union conference (ITU) in Bangkok, Thailand in order to promote the countries ICT wears. 
 
Nigeria's participation, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) was led by the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Nasir El-Rufai, Ministry of Communications, Adebayo Shittu and MainOne’s chief executive officer, Funke Opeke.
 
Professor Danbatta spoke at the session entitled "Smart Communities as the key to a Digital Nigeria" and spoke of the countries flexible regulatory policies and the growing opportunities for investment. 
 
In addition, Ms Opeke of MainOne talked about the nations 80mn internet users, growth in smartphone usership and Nigerian voice penetration is at over 100 per cent. 
“Availability of broadband infrastructure across all regions of Nigeria and the technology adoption this will facilitate will greatly accelerate the pace of development in Nigeria, facilitate increased non-oil trade, enhance the Digital economy, improve public access to education, health and other social services and aid job creation”, Ms. Opeke said
