On November 20, during Global Optical Fiber and Cable Conference 2019, Optical Fiber and Cable Raw Materials Standard, organized by APC (Asia-Pacific Optical Fiber & Cable Industry Association), was officially released. President of APC Global Optical Fiber and Cable Conference, Member of Standing Committee of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Chairman Committee Member of Asia-Pacific Optical Communication Committee, Chief Editor of Network Telecom all media platform, Mao Qian, Former Chairman of Line Committee of China Institute of Communications, Song Zhituo, Vice president of ICT industry field (CAICT), Deputy manager of department of product & infrastructure (CTTL-systems), Liu Tai, Chief optoelectronic Engineer of HTGD, Shi Huiping, General Manager of SDGI sales center, Zhou Xu, General Manager of ZTT, Liu Zhizhong, and other guests attended the release ceremony to witness this wonderful moment.
At present, there are many kinds of raw materials and auxiliary materials for optical fiber and cable, with different forms, and different requirements for production control conditions, which make it difficult to effectively implement the quality control and audit of raw and auxiliary materials, resulting in different quality of fiber optic cable produced. Under this situation, APC Association organized to release this “Optical Fiber and Cable Raw Materials Standard”, aiming to make its own contribution to the harmonious development of China and even the global optical fiber and cable raw material industry.
“Optical Fiber and Cable Raw Materials Standard 2019” is the first international optical fiber and cable raw material industry standard released after the establishment of APC Association, and it is also the first international standard applied to UV-LED curing coating for optical fiber. Based on the most advanced technology, environmental friendly and sustainable green manufacturing concept, DSM China, the United States R & D team, FiberHome Communications and other international enterprises composed this standard with remarkable efforts.
This standard mainly specifies the classification, technical requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, identification, packaging, transportation and storage of UV-LED curing coating for optical fiber, gives the typical working wavelengths of UV-LED (395 nm, 385 nm, 365 nm), subdivides the application scenarios of coating (communication, device); fine-diameter optical fiber (200 μm, 180 μm coated optical fiber). According to the difference in specific modulus, glass transition temperature and cure rate, the technical requirements of 7 kinds of coatings are formulated, and the requirements for the stability of liquid coatings are added, so that the performance parameters and test methods are more comprehensive.
This standard unifies the raw material process, raw material and inspection management method of optical fiber and cable, provides the basis for the production management and supplier audit of optical fiber and cable raw material production enterprises, standardizes the production of optical fiber and cable raw material, further improves the quality of optical fiber and cable products, improves the overall level of optical fiber and cable industry, effectively promotes the construction of 5G network, and builds everything together -- new era of Internet.
During the conferece, APC association also awarded APC Association Contribution Award to some enterprises participating in the preparation of “Optical Fiber and Cable Raw Materials Standard”. Wang Dongxiang, Senior Engineer of FiberHome Communications, Xu Ye, Asia Marketing Manager of Fiber Optic Materials of DSM Desotech Specialty Chemicals Co., Ltd, Wang Xiaoquan, Deputy Chief Engineer of Nanjing Huaxin Fujikura Optical Communication Co., Ltd., etc received awards as representatives of the winning enterprises.
