Broadband TV Connect Asia 2018

2018-01-14 13:55:05

Broadband TV Connect Asia 2018 brought together the Digital TV and Broadband communities to learn, network and collaborate.

Two defined tracks of content tackled current challenges in network upgrade and digital TV transformation, while curated networking events gave you time to connect with both communities and understand how they are becoming increasingly converged.

Thailand is entering an era of digital transformation, with national strategies in place to strengthen digital infrastructure and drive economic, societal and cultural development in the country. Upwards of USD1.1BN (THB38bn) investment is planned to strengthen Thailand’s broadband backbone, extending access across the country and increasing data speeds by more than 400%. Network upgrade is essential to deliver on increasing consumer demand which is driven largely by video consumption.

As the Broadband networks prepare for increased streaming, the TV industry is also undergoing a digital boom with SVOD subscriber estimates up to 234 million by 2022. This switch from analogue to digital brings with it many opportunities and challenges for the market, making it crucial to review services, content, prices, partnerships and delivery strategies. Many operators are already taking steps to be more competitive by launching new services i.e. virtual reality or 360-degree video content, mobile-first TV services and their own standalone OTT and SVOD platforms.
